Condition
Framed: 39 1/2 x 34 x 4 1/4 inches.Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; canvas is laid to panel and margins are trimmed; surface texture is uneven as a result of lining process, mostly within the upper register; localized areas of hairline craquelures throughout, which appear stable; multiple areas of inpainting scattered throughout the surface, primarily within the background, and hair and dress of the sitter, visible under normal viewing conditions; localized areas of paint losses within all corners, as well as a line of loss along the center right edge; pinpoint brown stains around the sitter's figure, as well as on her upper lip. Under UV light: selective varnish cleaning around the sitter's figure; inpainting throughout the background, in the woman's left arm and to her arm bracelet; overcleaning to the right of her face and eye, although no inpainting is apparent within the face itself.
